"אשר פקד על פי משה“
“Which was counted according to the commandment of Moshe.” (38:21)
Why does the passuk say by the commandment of Moshe, shouldn’t it say by Hashem?
When mashiach comes, we will iyh have the 3rd beit hamikdash. The word “al pi” in gematria equals 90 and 90 in Hebrew is קץ. That means end meaning ending of galus. Rashi says, that in the same passuk where the hint is to the 2 beit hamikdash being destroyed, it also says al pi Moshe to maybe hint that through learning Torah which was handed to Moshe, we will merit keitz, the end of galus, and bringing Mashiach, and ultimately rebuild the third beit hamikdash.

What are other reasons it says by Moshe and not Hashem?
Where in the Torah is there other Hints to mashiach and the 3rd beit hamikdash being rebuilt?
Where else in the Torah does it mention Moshe instead of Hashem?
Rashi, explains that the Beit Hamikdash has already been constructed by G‑d and exists in the heavenly realms, waiting for the time when it will descend to the earth. this is such a nice idea because us shows the third Beit Hamikdash will for sure be the last and it is beautiful to think that Hashem has it already made
ReplyDeleteIn the 25th year of the גלות in בבל, Hashem showed a vision of the future Beit Hamikdash to יחזקאל. The Midrash tells us that when Hashem commanded יחזקאל to describe the dimensions of the B”H to the Jewish people, יחזקאל asked Hashem why He is telling him to go and tell Bnei Yisroel the form of the B”H considering that they are now in גלות. Hashem answered that the construction of the B”H should not just be ignored just because בנ״י are in גלות. Hashem says that they should study of the design of the B”H so that בנ״י can build it just as detailed as He described it. Hashem also says that as a reward for their study, He will consider it as if בנ״י actually built the B”H. Based on the Midrash, the Lubavitcher Rebbe strongly promoted learning about the building of the third B”H, in order to be prepared and know the details of the construction.
ReplyDeleteThe sforno says simply that it says Moshe instead of hashem because it was Moshe who actually told bnie yisrael to build the mishkan
ReplyDeleteI like this answer because its straight forward and it answers the question very simply. However i now know why its Moshe but he doesnt really answer why it wouldnt say hashem
Where in the Torah is there other Hints to mashiach and the 3rd beit hamikdash being rebuilt?
ReplyDeletein Devarim perek lamed passuk gimmel it says that hashed will turn to captivity instead of bring back to captivity and in rashi we learn from this that hashems divine presence dwells in the land of israel in a time of exile so when mashich comes hashem will be there and redeem himself to us.
i like this idea because it shows that hashem is really there for us because even though right now we are in exile we still feel his presence in israel, but as much as we feel it now it will be even more when Mashiach comes and hashem comes back to us.
In דברים:ט:י״ט Hashem tells him that his nation, that he took out for Egypt has sinned.
ReplyDeleteRabbi Shimshon Rafael Hirsch says that it is because they acted, not for Hashem and Hasme’s nation but as Moshe’s nation. A lot of commentaries say that the golden calf only became a sin after, when the eruv rav partook in it. These are the people that Moshe accepted as converts but who really only converted for fear of their safety. (And especially in the medrash with Micha since he is almost literally part of Moshe’s nation since that’s the reason he’s alive.) This is during Moshe’s speech so what he’s saying is that really all of this only happened because he accepted them.
